Review PHP settings
Check the PHP environment and plan a compatible change to the version or available limits.
Check the current runtime
PHP runs WordPress and its plugins on the server. Treat a PHP change as a website change: an incompatible plugin or theme can stop working even when the hosting service itself is healthy. Choose a version supported by both your site’s software and your hosting service.
- In Kiro, open Websites and select Manage website for the correct domain.
- Read the PHP version on Overview or in Settings under Runtime & storage.
- If the value is unavailable, refresh once or check the full hosting panel. Do not infer the version from another website.
WordPress also reports server details in Tools → Site Health → Info. That page helps you inspect the environment; it does not itself change hosting settings.
Prepare a change
- Check the compatibility guidance for your active theme and essential plugins.
- Create a current backup and confirm it finished.
- Test the proposed version on staging when available, using the same features your visitors depend on.
- Record the current version and any custom setting you intend to change.
Make an available change
Open Hosting control panel from the website’s Settings page. If your service exposes them, PHP Version and PHP Settings are under the website’s Advanced → Developer Settings. Change only the value required for your task, then save using the panel’s confirmation.
Do not choose arbitrary large limits to silence an error. If an upload or process needs a higher limit, note the exact error and the size or operation that triggered it. The service may apply additional limits that a website setting cannot override.
Verify the website
- After the change finishes, test the homepage, WordPress editor, uploads, forms, and any store or membership features.
- Check the reported runtime again and look for new errors.
- If a feature fails, stop further changes. Return to the previous supported setting when available, or ask Kiro support for recovery help.
If the PHP control is missing or locked, contact support with the domain, current setting, requested change, and compatibility requirement. Do not edit unrelated configuration files to work around an unavailable control.
