Restore a website backup
Choose a recovery point, understand the restore options, and check the website after recovery.

Understand the impact
For a store, membership site, or busy publishing site, agree on a recovery plan before proceeding. Keep a current backup or export of newer information when possible. If you cannot determine what would be overwritten, ask Kiro support to review the restore with you.
Choose the recovery point
- In Kiro, open Websites, choose Manage website for the correct domain, and select Backups.
- Review the backup name, creation time, size if available, and status. Choose a copy from before the problem started.
- Select Restore. Check the website and backup shown in the confirmation panel before continuing.
A disabled Restore control can mean that a task is in progress or that the recovery point is not usable. Resolve that state first rather than attempting the same action from multiple browser tabs.
Choose what to restore
- Restore database replaces stored site data, including posts, settings, and data maintained by plugins.
- Restore website files replaces saved file versions, including the files included in that archive.
- Delete existing files before restoring also removes files added since the backup. Leave it unchecked if you need those extra files to remain.
Available options reflect the contents reported for that recovery point. At least one restore component must be selected. Confirm that you understand the overwrite, then choose Request restore once.
Check after restoring
- Refresh the backup list to check progress. Submission alone does not mean the restore is complete.
- Once finished, visit the homepage and a few important pages, then test sign-in, images, and the features involved in the original problem.
- Check new orders or submissions separately and clear the website cache if you are seeing an old page.
